Dr. Joel
Joel Wellness Clinic is a premier weight loss, lipedema, and primary care clinic with locations in Livonia and Ann Arbor, Michigan. The clinic is led by Binju Joel, MD, who is dual board-certified in Obesity Medicine and Internal Medicine and is also a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association. Together with her highly trained team, Dr. Joel provides compassionate, evidence-based care for patients ages 15 and older.
Dr. Joel completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Preliminary Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association, where she serves on committees and mentors aspiring physicians. With more than two decades of medical experience, Dr. Joel has published research in respected medical journals and participated in mission trips around the world.
In addition to weight management and primary care, Dr. Joel specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of lipedema, a condition that is often underdiagnosed or mistaken for obesity. She regularly attends national and international conferences, including the Fat Disorders Resource Society Conference, to remain at the forefront of new developments in lipedema care. She is actively involved in lipedema research and works closely with the Lipedema Foundation. Dr. Joel also spearheaded a Lipedema Provider Roundtable in partnership with the foundation, creating a collaborative space to spread awareness and bring providers together to share best practices and improve patient outcomes.
At Joel Wellness Clinic, care is integrative and personalized, focusing on the whole person rather than just symptoms. Dr. Joel partners with her patients to help them pursue what she calls the “Fullness of Life”—a life of wholeness, balance, and vitality.
Her team provides a wide range of services, including body composition analysis, obesity management, meal replacement programs, pharmacological interventions, and wellness coaching. Dr. Joel also performs procedures such as joint injections and biopsies.
In addition, the clinic manages a variety of health conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disorders, skin conditions, women’s health concerns, and attention-deficit disorder (ADD). Virtual telehealth visits are also available, giving patients convenient access to their care team from home.
Dr. Joel and her staff remain committed to staying at the forefront of advancements in medical weight loss, lipedema, and primary care. They warmly welcome patients and are dedicated to helping every individual maximize their physical health, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life.
